Check Your AreaOnce the stone or tile is set on the shower walls, the curb and any bench, and before any glass is cut. Measuring framing or backer board would build in differences that tempered glass cannot absorb, since it cannot be trimmed afterward. Your builder or site supervisor can tell us when the stone is in, and we book the free in-home measure from there. An earlier call, while the walls are open, still helps settle the layout.
Close to plumb and level, though the glass is cut to what is actually there. At the measure we check each wall for plumb at several heights and the curb for level along its length, and our Lodi shop cuts the panels to follow any small lean. A curb that runs clearly out of level, or a wall that bows, should be corrected by the stone installer before the measure, because glass cannot bend to meet a bowed wall.
Mostly the trip from the truck to the bath, plus the room to stand the panel up. A tall 1/2 inch panel cannot be cut down, so it has to clear every doorway and stair turn on the way in, and a panel that runs close to the ceiling needs space to be tilted upright inside the room. The measure checks both. If one piece will not make it, the layout splits into two panels with a planned seam.
A transom panel across the top, because a steam enclosure has to be sealed to hold the steam. The transom closes the space above the door, up to the ceiling, and the door carries seals on its edges. Let us know about the steam while the walls are still open, so the glass layout is planned with the ceiling height in mind, then book the free in-home measure once the stone and ceiling are done.
Where the outlets, switches and sconces land, since the mirror layout is drawn around them. Long mirror walls are often pieced from several panels, so we measure after the wall is painted and the vanity and lights are in, then set the seams where they fall naturally, such as between two sinks or beside a light. Our Lodi shop cuts and edges each panel. If a softer reflection appeals, ask about the antique mirror line.

From the builder, we need finished stone and curbs, a clear path to the bath, and word of other trades working in the room on install day.
