Steam Shower Enclosures in Hackensack, NJ

A steam room is a sealed box, and glass is what seals it. Full-height panels, a transom over the door and tight tolerances at every joint are what keep the heat where you paid to put it. We template, fabricate and install steam enclosures for Hackensack homes, starting with a free in-home measure.

A transom, a header, and no gaps

A standard shower enclosure is designed to let air move. A steam enclosure is the opposite. The glass runs from the curb to the ceiling, a transom panel closes the space above the door, and every joint gets sealed so vapor cannot slip out the top and fog your mirror instead of working on you. The door has to shut against a full seal, not a decorative sweep.

Most steam enclosures also need a way to let the room breathe afterward, so we build the transom to vent, either as an operable panel or as a controlled gap that opens after the session. Ceiling height, where the steam head sits and which way the door swings all change the panel plan, which is why we template on site with the tile finished rather than ordering to a drawing.

  • Full-height panels from the curb to the ceiling
  • Transom above the door to trap the steam
  • Every joint and edge sealed, not caulked over later
  • 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch heavy tempered safety glass
  • Vent detail worked out at the template stage

Where Steam Lands Here

Steam belongs to the primary bath

Steam shows up in Hackensack mostly in the primary baths of the newer residential buildings going up along Main Street and toward the riverfront. Those units are finished to the level it takes: full-height tile, a real bench, a ceiling you can seal to. Once your contractor has the plumbing and the steam unit sorted, the glass is the last piece, and it has to be exact.

It also comes up in gut renovations of the larger older homes around town, where a bath is rebuilt to the studs and the owner decides to add steam while the walls are open. Either way we are working to a finished ceiling and a sealed curb, so the right moment for us is after the tile is in and before the room goes back into service. At the measure we will tell you exactly what needs to be finished before we can template.

  • Full-height tile and sealed ceilings in newer tower baths
  • Gut renovations where steam gets added mid-project
  • Glass templated after tile, before the room is used
  • Elevator access and building rules handled by our crew

Containment. A regular enclosure is open at the top so the room can breathe. A steam enclosure runs the glass all the way to the ceiling, adds a transom panel over the door, and seals every edge so the vapor stays inside the box. The door closes against a full seal. Without that you heat the whole bathroom, fog the mirror, and never get the steam you paid for.

Lodi, about a 10 minute drive from Hackensack. The showroom and glass shop is at 80 Industrial Rd, Lodi, NJ 07644, open Monday to Friday 9 to 5 and Saturday 9 to 4, and the number is (201) 460-1313. You can see full-height panels and transoms in person and handle every hardware finish. There is a second showroom in Midland Park at 108 Greenwood Ave, by appointment, roughly 25 minutes away.

We will not throw a number at you over the phone. Steam pricing tracks the size of the opening, the ceiling height, whether you choose 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch glass, whether you want low-iron glass, the hardware finish, and the extra transom and sealing work a steam job needs. After a free in-home measure you get one firm itemized quote. Monthly payment options are available.

Plan on roughly one to two weeks of fabrication after the measure, then an install that is usually a single visit. Steam jobs are more exacting than a standard enclosure because of the transom and the sealing, and we would rather take the care than rush the fit. We also need your tile finished before we can template, which is worth building into the renovation schedule.

It changes the panel plan, not the possibility. Taller ceilings mean taller panels and a bigger transom, so the header carries more glass and the seals have a longer run to hold. Ceiling heights are not always what the plan says, which is exactly why we measure the actual room instead of assuming a standard. You will see the layout before anything gets cut.

Sometimes, and it depends on the room more than the glass. A steam enclosure needs a ceiling it can seal against, tile that runs the full height, and a shower your contractor has set up for a steam unit. If your bath already has all that, we can build full-height glass and a transom to fit the existing opening. If it does not, the glass is the last step rather than the first, and we will say so at the measure.
