A bypass door puts two panels of tempered glass on a slim track along the top of the tub, sliding past each other so nothing swings out into a small room. It closes the opening completely, which is what you want when the tub is also the only shower in the unit. Finishes run from chrome to matte black, and the track can be kept low profile so the tub still reads clean.
The other option is a single fixed panel standing at one end of the tub, often called a screen. Once we have measured, figure about one to two weeks while your glass is fabricated in the Lodi shop, then a single visit for the install. A tub door is one of the quicker jobs we do, since we are working to an existing tub and existing tile. Yes, that is exactly the job. We supply and install the glass over your existing tub, on the deck that is already there. What we do not do is remove tubs, tile or plumb, because we are a glass company. If a bath is being reworked, your contractor handles the tub and the tile, and we come in afterward to template and set the glass to what is actually in the room.
It depends on how the room gets used. A bypass slider closes the opening completely, so it contains the spray better when the tub doubles as the family shower. A single fixed screen leaves the open end clear, which makes leaning over the tub to wash a small kid far easier. If the shower head sprays toward the open end, take the slider. We will look at it with you at the measure.
We can take the old door and track out and set new glass in the same opening, with no tile work needed. That is usually where a tired framed slider ends up: the metal pits, the bottom track traps everything, and no amount of cleaning brings it back.
