Glass Tub Doors, Fitted to Englewood Bathrooms

The vinyl curtain is the cheapest thing in the bathroom, and it always looks it. Two panels of tempered glass sliding on a slim track change the room more than new towels ever did, and a single fixed screen at the faucet end does the same job with even less hardware. Both go over the tub already sitting there. We measure Englewood bathrooms free and build the glass to the opening.

What Goes Over the Tub, and What It Takes

Start with how the room gets used. If two people share the bath, or a kid gets washed in it, you generally want the opening closed, and that means a pair of panels riding a track along the tub deck. They pass behind each other, so nothing swings into a tight room and you can reach the faucet from either side. If the shower head is aimed away from the open end and nobody is bathing a toddler in there, a single fixed screen is cleaner: one panel, no track overhead, nothing to clean around.

The hardware is what you live with. A track and its rollers decide how a slider feels five winters in, so that is not the place to save, and the finish on the track, the handles and the clips should sit right next to the fixtures already in the room. We carry fifteen of them. Panels are tempered safety glass, cut to the tub and the walls we measured rather than a standard size that almost fits. No tile comes off and no fixtures move. Fabrication typically runs one to two weeks, and the install itself is short.

The Hardest Working Room in the House

Walk the second floor of an older Englewood colonial and the hall bath is usually the busiest room in the house. Kids' bathtime, guests, the everyday shower before work, all of it runs through a space drawn when fixtures were smaller and doors swung tighter. The tub itself is rarely the problem. What dates the room is the curtain flapping against your arm and the rod sagging overhead. A glass door over the existing tub keeps everything that works about the room and retires the one part that never did.

Fit is the whole job on these. We template against the tub rim and the walls at several points, because a rim that has settled for decades is never perfectly level and tiled corners are rarely square. The panels are tempered glass sized to what the opening actually measures, hinged or sliding depending on how the room moves around the tub. Hardware lands in whichever of the fifteen finishes you pick, and the work is done in one quiet visit in most homes. You lose nothing about the tub. You gain a wall of light.

  • Fits the original tub in an older Englewood bath
  • Alcove measured at several heights, not just one
  • Hinged or bypass panels to suit the room
  • Quiet single-visit install in most homes

Frequently asked questions

Lodi is the closest, about a fourteen minute drive west at 80 Industrial Rd. Slide a real track, feel the difference between glass thicknesses and hold the finishes next to each other. Weekday hours are 9 to 5 and Saturday is 9 to 4. Call or text (201) 460-1313 first. Midland Park, 108 Greenwood Ave, sits farther northwest and works by appointment.

Depends on a few things, and none of them are guessable from here. Opening width and height, glass thickness, sliders versus one fixed screen, the glass type and the hardware finish all move the number. After a free measure you get it in writing with each piece broken out, so you can see exactly what a heavier panel or a different finish adds.

We measure the opening and build a new door for the tub you already have, which is the clean way out once a track has gone. If the enclosure is otherwise fine and one panel cracked or clouded over, we can fabricate a matching panel and set it back into the existing hardware. You will get a straight recommendation once we have seen it.

Century-old alcoves settle, tile gets added over decades, and the opening ends up out of square, which is why we template at several heights instead of trusting a single measurement. The panels and the track are then cut to the shape the room actually has. An old bathroom does not rule out glass. It rules out ordering a stock unit.

In a tight room, sliders usually win. Nothing swings out, you can lean in to start the water without stepping around glass, and the tub still works for a bath. A fixed screen looks lighter and has no track to wipe, but it leaves the far end open, so spray finds the floor if the head is aimed wrong. We check that before recommending either.

Getting a measure booked is usually straightforward, since the Lodi shop is fourteen minutes west of town. From the template, glass is cut and fabricated in one to two weeks, and tub doors are among the shorter installs on the calendar, normally one visit. We will give you a real date once the opening has been measured.
