Recurring spots trace back to three things: hard water, glass left to dry on its own after every shower, and cleaner or soap residue that never gets fully rinsed. Fix the drying habit first, because it accounts for most of it. If spots return within a day on freshly cleaned glass, the surface itself has begun to etch.
Start with the water. If your kettle scales, your faucets crust and glassware comes out of the dishwasher spotted, the shower panel is getting the same treatment and nothing about your technique is at fault. Next, the drying. Glass left to air dry after a hot shower runs a full evaporation cycle every single day, and each one lays down a fresh deposit. Third, the rinse. Soap and sprays that get wiped instead of rinsed leave a film that catches the next round of minerals and holds onto them.
Then the tools. A towel that has been through fabric softener leaves a residue of its own, and a blade with a nick in it draws a wet stripe down the panel on every pass. Hold the edge up to the light and replace it once it stops leaving glass dry behind it.
Clean the panel properly, dry it completely, then for two weeks do nothing except squeegee after every shower and run the fan. No sprays of any kind. If the glass stays clear, the problem was residue or neglect and you have your answer. If a fine haze returns anyway, your water is doing it and the fix moves to a coating, a softener or simply a shorter interval between washes. If it comes back inside a day, look harder at the surface itself.
Run the test in the season you are actually living in. A bathroom behaves one way in humid weather with the windows shut and another in dry winter air, so a clean result in one month does not settle much about the next.
Etched glass keeps a memory of every deposit it has ever carried. Minerals bite microscopic pits into the surface, and those pits grab the next round of water and hold it exactly where it sat before, which is why some panels spot in the same pattern within hours of being cleaned. The wet test settles it: deposits vanish under running water, etching does not. Once a panel reaches that stage, cleaning becomes maintenance rather than a cure, and new glass in the same hardware is worth asking about.
Because they are not getting the same water. The panel nearest the showerhead takes direct spray and the door takes splash and body contact, while a return panel across the enclosure may only catch mist. Airflow differs too, since one panel may sit in a corner that never really dries. Uneven spotting is normal, and it shows you where to spend the squeegee time.
The good ones are mildly acidic and dissolve mineral film faster than soap does, which is genuinely useful once a week. They cause trouble when used as a daily spray and never rinsed, because the residue builds a haze of its own and can dull metal finishes over time. Treat one as a tool for the weekly wash, not as a replacement for drying.
