Low-iron glass takes exactly the same care as ordinary clear glass: blade it after each shower, wash weekly with mild soapy water, keep abrasives off it entirely. The difference is visual, not chemical. With no green tint to disguise them, minerals and residue read as obvious white haze, so low-iron rewards a routine and punishes skipping one.
Low-iron is soda lime glass with the iron content reduced, which removes the green cast you see along the exposed edge of standard clear. Chemically the surface is identical, so nothing on the cleaning shelf treats it any differently. What changes is contrast. Standard clear carries a faint color of its own that a thin film can hide inside, while a low-iron panel is close to colorless, so the first haze to form sits against a neutral background and announces itself early. Owners often conclude their new glass spots faster. It does not. It simply reports honestly.
There is a practical upside to that honesty. Haze on this glass appears while it is still a loose deposit sitting on the surface, long before it has had time to attack anything. Owners who act on what they see end up with panels in better condition than tinted glass in the same bathroom.
Blade the panel down after every shower, edges and bottom rail included. Once a week wash with warm water and a few drops of dish soap, rinse, blade again, then run a lint-free cloth around the edges and the bottom rail. Because this glass shows everything, it also shows cleaner residue: any spray left to dry on the face lays down a film of its own. Rinse fully, every single time. If you like a glass spray, use it to polish already clean glass rather than as the wash itself.
Water quality sets the interval more than any other factor. Where minerals are heavy, add a second blade pass after the last shower of the day, since that final wetting is the one left to sit overnight with nothing moving the air.
The point of low-iron is clarity, and scratches destroy clarity faster than minerals ever will. A scoured panel scatters light in every direction and takes on a permanent milky look that no product reverses. Keep steel wool, powdered cleanser and utility blades away from it completely, and rinse grit off the surface before a cloth ever touches it. A factory applied coating suits this glass particularly well, since it lets you wipe where you would otherwise be tempted to scrub.
It gets harder if minerals are left to sit and slowly bite into the surface, which is true of any glass in any shower. What people usually mean is that haze becomes more visible against the neutral color. Deposits removed weekly never reach the stage where they attack the surface, so the panel keeps behaving like new glass indefinitely.
It can be, provided the routine comes with it. Hard water spots every kind of glass, and this one shows those spots more plainly than tinted clear does. If a squeegee is going to hang inside the enclosure and actually get used, the extra clarity pays off daily. If it is not, standard clear will look acceptable for longer.
