River Vale is the 'Garden Spot of the Pascack Valley' — leafy, spacious and lined with mid-century homes set on generous Pascack Valley lots. Local housing skews toward mid-century splits, ranches, bi-levels and gracious colonial revivals, with newer custom homes filling in among them, and split-level retrofits, ranch primary-bath updates, and the occasional newer-custom estate package make up the bulk of our install calendar here. If your own project sounds like one of the case studies below, jump to the River Vale service page or text Jessica from the contact section.

Shower-door highlights

Shower enclosures are our highest-volume category in River Vale by a wide margin. The borough’s housing mix means most of the work is framed-to-frameless replacements in existing bathrooms rather than new construction — though we do both. A few recent installs that show the range:

Frameless replacement in a 1958 split-level

A long-time family in a 1958 split-level off Rivervale Road decided to update the upstairs primary bath. The original framed slider had been there since the house was built. We pulled it, addressed minor substrate water damage from years of slow seal failure, and installed a single frameless inline door with a fixed return panel in 3/8-inch clear glass with brushed nickel hardware. The opening was just over half an inch out of plumb top to bottom — standard for a sixty-five-year-old wood-framed bath — and we hand-templated to fit. Owner-reported install impression: 'I keep walking past the door to look at it.'

Hinged door in a country-club-area colonial

A 1970s colonial revival near the country club had a 36-inch shower with a tile curb and the owners wanted to replace a dated framed enclosure with frameless. We installed a 30-inch hinged frameless door with a fixed inline panel in 3/8-inch low-iron with matte black hardware. The matte-black against the white subway tile was the design call the owner was nervous about; she texted Jessica a photo the day after install with the message 'I was so wrong to be nervous.'

Corner enclosure in a bi-level addition

A bi-level on the western side near Westwood was completing a primary-suite addition with a 60-by-72 corner shower as the focal point. We fabricated and installed a 90-degree corner frameless enclosure with two fixed panels and a hinged door, all in 3/8-inch clear glass with brushed brass hardware. The vertical seam at the corner is a clear silicone joint with no clip — clean lines top to bottom.

Mirror highlights

Most River Vale homeowners don’t realize how dated their builder-grade bathroom mirror looks until they see it next to a single seamless piece of polished mirror. Custom mirrors are an underrated upgrade — usually less than ten percent of the cost of a shower-enclosure project, and they make the whole room read more finished. Recent examples:

Pair of pivot-mounted vanity mirrors

A River Vale split-level wanted a touch of design on the new vanity mirrors — pivot-mounted, polished edges, with a 1-inch tilt adjustment. We fabricated two 24×36 mirrors in 1/4-inch silvered with custom pivot brackets in brushed brass to match the new faucets. The owners can adjust the angle to suit each person's height.

Other glass work

Beyond showers and mirrors, River Vale keeps us busy with the full range — glass railings, painted-glass backsplashes, glass tabletops, and the occasional commercial storefront:

Interior glass railing on a stair landing

A renovated split-level wanted to open up the visual line between the main level and the upper landing. We replaced an existing wood balustrade with a frameless glass railing in 3/8-inch tempered with top-mounted stainless standoffs into the stair stringer. The landing now visually connects to the kitchen-living area below, and the sightline from the front door through to the back yard reads as one open space.

Why River Vale chooses AGM

River Vale has the quiet, careful homeowner profile we see across most of the Pascack Valley — but the lots are bigger and the projects are correspondingly more ambitious. A second-bath update gets paired with a primary-bath refresh. A new mirror set gets paired with a stair-landing railing. The work tends to bundle into longer engagements, which lets us do better fit-and-finish on every individual piece. A few specifics that matter: our Midland Park showroom is about 16 minutes from your door, our crew templates and installs every job in-house (no subcontractor handoffs), and the written quote after the free in-home measure is the price — no fees added at install for site conditions we should have caught earlier.
