Recent glass projects in Teaneck, NJ

Teaneck is one of Bergen County's grandest townships — a stretch of stately Tudors, center-hall colonials, Cape Cods and Cedar Lane two-families on tree-shaded streets. From our Lodi shop, about twelve minutes down Route 4, we've been the local glass crew for these character bathrooms for four decades. Here are recent case studies.

Quick answer: Teaneck (ZIP 07666) is about twelve minutes from our Lodi showroom, an easy run down Route 4. Much of the township's housing dates to the early 1900s — grand Tudors, center-hall colonials, Cape Cods and split-levels — which means lots of original bathrooms with century-old tile that has settled over time. Most of our Teaneck work is hand-templated frameless shower replacements in those character homes, plus mirror walls, glass railings on renovated staircases, and the occasional Cedar Lane commercial install.

For the full service overview, see the Teaneck service page. Below are highlights of recent residential and commercial work.

Teaneck at a glance

Teaneck is one of Bergen County's largest townships — about 41,000 residents across six square miles, with a housing stock that's notably older than many of its neighbors. The west side toward Hackensack has grand center-hall colonials and Tudors on deep lots; the central streets near Cedar Lane have Cape Cods, two-families and the borough's commercial spine; the north end toward Englewood has split-levels and post-war ranches. The variety means we field templates here for nearly every project type.

From Lodi, the drive down Route 4 is twelve minutes in light traffic — slower at rush hour, but always navigable. We're regularly in Teaneck three to four times a week on residential and commercial work.

Shower-door highlights

Frameless inline in a grand center-hall colonial

A center-hall colonial off West Englewood Avenue had a primary bath that had been carefully restored to a period-appropriate look, but the framed shower enclosure from a 1990s renovation jarred against the rest of the room. The owners wanted clean frameless glass without the chrome glint of polished hardware. We installed a single inline door with a fixed return panel in 3/8″ clear glass and unlacquered brass hinges that will patinate naturally over time, matching the home's other restored hardware. Two-and-a-half week lead time, half-day install.

Steam-rated enclosure in a renovated Tudor primary

A Tudor off Sussex Road had finished a top-to-bottom primary suite renovation with a steam generator built into the mechanical closet. The enclosure had to seal floor-to-ceiling, accept an operable transom, and respect the home's overall warm-bronze hardware program. We fabricated a sealed steam-rated package in 3/8″ low-iron glass with heavy-duty bronze hinges, an upgraded gasket system at every joint, and a magnetic-latch transom. The mechanicals had been the long pole; the glass install was a single day.

Frameless inline replacement in a Cedar Lane two-family

A Cedar Lane area two-family had the original 1980s framed bypass in the rented upstairs unit. The landlord wanted to lift the apartment's rentability without a full bathroom remodel. We replaced the framed slider with a frameless inline door in 3/8″ clear glass, kept the original tile, and finished with polished-chrome hinges to match the existing fixtures. The upgrade dramatically improved how the bath photographs in listings.

Mirror highlights

Beveled mirror trio for a primary vanity

A primary bath in a center-hall colonial off Palisade Avenue had a 72″ vanity with three sinks. We cut three matching beveled panels at 22″ × 38″ each, with 1″ polished bevels, and helped the owners hang them flush via cleat-and-clip. Three matched bevels read more architecturally than a single oversized mirror would — the geometry rewards the architectural symmetry of the rest of the room.

Library wall mirror in a Tudor

A Tudor on the west side wanted a large statement mirror in their library, hung opposite the bay window to bounce afternoon light into the room. We cut a 60″ × 84″ panel with polished edges, set with mirror mastic and J-channel behind a custom wood frame the owner's carpenter built. The mirror is barely visible behind the frame from across the room, but the light it throws is significant.

Other glass work

Interior glass stair railing in a renovated split-level

A split-level off Maitland Avenue replaced its dated wood-spindle staircase with a frameless glass railing — 3/8″ tempered panels, top-mounted on a white-oak handrail, with stainless standoffs anchored into the stringer. Glass railings open up split-level great rooms more than almost any other change because they remove the vertical line that visually cuts the room in half.

Commercial storefront on Cedar Lane

A restaurant on Cedar Lane needed full storefront replacement after a corner panel failed from impact damage during a delivery. We sent a templater the same afternoon, fabricated the replacement panel in three business days, and installed it after closing so the restaurant didn't lose a service.

Why Teaneck chooses AGM

Teaneck homeowners — especially in the older grand houses — tend to be picky in good ways. They want hardware finishes that match the rest of the home, glass thicknesses that don't look bargain-bin, and templating that respects the character of their bathrooms. That's a near-perfect match for the way we work. We bring multiple finish samples on every measure, we hand-template every opening (because nothing is square in a 1920s Tudor), and we fabricate in-house so the glass that arrives is the glass that was specified.

The proximity is a secondary advantage. Twelve minutes is close enough for fast measures and quick service calls — but it's the workmanship that wins repeat clients in this town.
