Recent glass projects in Garfield, NJ

Garfield sits about six minutes from our Lodi showroom — practically next door. Over four decades we've installed custom glass in two-families along the Passaic River, in Cape Cods near Outwater Lane, and in commercial spaces along Passaic Street. Here are recent case studies from the borough.

Quick answer: Garfield is one of our nearest service areas — only about six minutes from the Lodi shop. The borough's century-old two-families and tightly built Cape Cods mean a lot of original framed showers and builder mirrors still in service. Most of our Garfield work is frameless replacement enclosures, custom mirrors, and the occasional commercial install along the Passaic Street corridor. Lead times here are some of the fastest we offer simply because the drive is so short.

If you've been thinking about replacing a dated shower or adding a custom mirror in your Garfield home, the projects below should give you a feel for what's possible — and what your neighbors are choosing. For everything we do in town, see the Garfield service page.

Garfield at a glance

Garfield (ZIP 07026) packs around 32,000 residents into about two square miles between the Passaic River and Route 21 — one of the densest boroughs in Bergen County. The housing stock skews early-20th-century: two-family homes, Cape Cods, colonials and duplexes that grew up alongside the textile and chemical mills along the river. Bathrooms in those homes tend to be compact, with original tile work that isn't always plumb, which is exactly where hand-templating frameless glass pays off.

From Lodi, we cross into Garfield in about six minutes via Outwater Lane or River Drive. That short hop matters for two reasons: faster scheduling on the initial measure, and easy return service if a sweep ever needs replacing five years down the road.

Shower-door highlights

Frameless inline replacement in a Plauderville two-family

A homeowner near Plauderville Avenue had inherited the original 1990s framed bypass enclosure in the upstairs unit — the kind with the corroded aluminum track that always pooled water at the threshold. We templated the existing opening, removed the framed slider, and installed a single inline frameless door in 3/8″ clear glass with brushed-nickel hardware. The original tile stayed; only the glass changed. The result reads as a completely new bathroom for a fraction of a full remodel. Lead time from measure to install: ten days.

Neo-angle frameless for a tight Cape Cod corner

A Cape Cod off Lanza Avenue had the classic problem: a corner shower stall about 36″ × 36″ where the previous owner had crammed in a metal-framed pivot door that hit the toilet on every swing. We replaced it with a frameless neo-angle enclosure — two fixed return panels at 45 degrees and a single inswing door, all 3/8″ tempered glass. The owner picked up matte-black hardware at the Lodi showroom on a Saturday. With the heavy framing gone, the bathroom visually doubled in size.

Steam-rated enclosure in a renovated Wallington-line colonial

A center-hall colonial near the Wallington line had gone through a top-to-bottom primary-bath remodel. The owner wanted a steam-rated frameless enclosure with the glass running floor-to-ceiling and a trickle vent at the top. We fabricated the package in 3/8″ low-iron glass with heavy-duty hinges rated for steam and an upgraded gasket system at every joint. The transom vents on a magnetic latch so the homeowner can crack it open to release steam after a session. Two-week fabrication, half-day install.

Mirror highlights

Two-vanity beveled mirror pair on Belmont Avenue

A renovated primary bath off Belmont Avenue had two undermount sinks with a tall sconce between them. Off-the-shelf mirrors looked wrong — either too small for the wall or oversized for the vanity. We cut two matching pieces at 28″ × 38″, each with a 1″ polished bevel, and hung them with cleat-and-clip mounts so they sit flush with no visible hardware. Total turnaround: four business days, including the beveling.

Mudroom mirror wall for a Marsellus Place colonial

A homeowner converting a back entry into a proper mudroom asked for a full-height mirror across one wall to bounce light back into the windowless space. We delivered a single panel 60″ wide by 84″ tall with polished edges, set with mirror mastic and J-channel anchors. The room now feels twice as deep.

Other glass work

Back-painted glass backsplash in a kitchen remodel

A kitchen remodel near Midland Avenue ran a single panel of back-painted glass in warm white behind the range, templated to fit around the hood vent and two outlets. No grout lines, no caulk to clean — wipe-down maintenance only. Painted-glass backsplashes are quietly one of the best upgrades for cooks who actually use their stove.

Commercial storefront repair on Passaic Street

A retail tenant on Passaic Street called us after a delivery truck mirror clipped a corner of their tempered storefront panel. We sent a templater the same afternoon, fabricated the replacement panel in the next two business days, and installed it on a Saturday morning to avoid disrupting weekday foot traffic.

Why Garfield chooses AGM

Proximity is the first reason — when the shop is six minutes up the road, the templater can be at your door tomorrow. Second, experience with the housing stock: we've templated enough Garfield two-family bathrooms to know exactly where the walls run out of plumb and how to seal frameless glass tight against tile that wasn't laid yesterday. Third, no subcontractors. The same family-run crew that templates also fabricates and installs.
