Locally, from a glass shop that keeps a showroom, a fabrication bench and its own installers inside one company. Glen Rock is roughly eight minutes from the Accurate Glass & Mirror showroom in Midland Park, where hardware finishes and glass are kept on hand so you can match them against the fixtures you already own.
Bring the faucet if it comes off, or a clear photo if it does not. Finishes that share a name do not always share a tone. Brushed nickel runs warm or cool depending on the maker, matte black ranges from a soft graphite to a hard flat black, and oil-rubbed bronze is nearly a different color under an incandescent bulb than under a bathroom LED. Polished chrome is the one constant, which is part of why it never goes out of style.
Holding a hinge and a handle next to your own fixture for a minute answers this better than any amount of comparison shopping online. Room light is the variable nobody accounts for, and it is why two people can look at the same finish on a screen and see different colors.
Panel layout comes first: a single swing door, a door with an inline return, a corner built from two panels, or a fixed panel with no door at all. Then thickness, either 3/8 or 1/2 inch. Then how the door hangs, since a wall-mounted hinge needs solid backing behind the tile and a glass-to-glass hinge needs a fixed panel stiff enough to carry the swing. Handles get chosen last, because they are the easiest thing to change your mind about.
Each of those choices narrows the next one, so a half hour with samples removes most of the guesswork before anybody brings a tape into your bathroom.
Short distances are worth something on a custom order. It is a quick trip to look at an odd layout in person before quoting it, and a quick trip back if a seal wants attention a year later. The Midland Park showroom runs by appointment, which keeps the hour clear for you, and the panels themselves are fabricated at the company bench in Lodi. Accurate Glass & Mirror is family run, licensed and insured, and has done this work in Bergen County for more than 40 years.
Less, not more. Polished chrome is the finish that shows mineral spots most plainly, because a mirror surface hides nothing. Matte black conceals the deposits but shows dust and the oil from a wet hand instead. Brushed nickel hides spotting best of the three, since its grain scatters light. Squeegee habits matter more than the finish, and all of them clean up with a soft cloth.
Close, and sometimes exact, but treat it as a family match rather than a factory match. Different manufacturers plate to their own standards, so two brushed nickels can differ slightly. Comparing samples side by side tells you whether the pairing reads intentional, which is the part anyone standing in the room actually notices.
Glen Rock sits about eight minutes from the Midland Park showroom, and visits run by appointment. Bring the faucet or a photo of it, and dial (201) 507-5918 to reserve an hour. Once the finishes are settled we schedule the free in-home measure.
