Glass Railings for Lodi Homes & Decks

A glass railing does what a rail has to do without blocking the view. We build frameless interior stair rails, deck rails and balcony rails in tempered safety glass, mounted on standoffs or set in a base shoe. Every panel is cut in our Lodi shop, and the measure is free.

Standoffs or a Base Shoe, Both in Tempered Glass

There are two honest ways to hold a glass rail. Standoff mounting uses round finish-matched posts that pin the panel to a stair stringer, a deck rim or a wall, leaving a gap under the glass and a very light look. A base shoe is a continuous channel along the floor or deck that the panel sits in, which reads cleaner as a single line. Both use tempered safety glass, and the right pick depends on the structure underneath.

Railings are the one glass job where what sits behind the finish matters most. Before we quote, we look at what the panels will actually anchor to, framing, blocking, joists or masonry, because a rail has to be built to code and it has to feel solid under a hand. Panel heights, the top cap if you want one, and the hardware finish all get settled at the measure. Panels are usually cut and tempered inside a couple of weeks.

  • Standoff-mounted panels held by round finish-matched posts
  • Base shoe systems for a continuous clean line
  • Tempered safety glass in every panel
  • Anchoring checked against framing, joists or masonry

Railings Around Lodi

Front Steps, Back Decks, and Interior Stairs

Lodi's colonials and two-family homes come with stairs everywhere, front stoops, back decks off the kitchen, an interior flight in the middle of the house, and on many two-families a second exterior stair to the upper unit. Those rails are usually the original wrought iron or pressure-treated wood, and they are usually the thing making a small landing feel smaller. Swapping to glass opens the sightline without giving up the rail.

Compact lots are the other half of it. When the deck is modest and the yard is close, a solid rail closes the space in and a glass one gives it back. Outside, we use tempered safety glass and hardware finishes that hold up to North Jersey winters. Inside, a frameless stair rail changes how the whole first floor reads. We are based on Industrial Rd here in Lodi, so we come out, look at what you have, and quote it straight.

Frequently asked questions

Come to 80 Industrial Rd in Lodi. We are open Monday through Friday 9 to 5 and Saturday 9 to 4, and the shop is in the same building as the showroom. Railing hardware is worth handling in person, because a standoff post and a base shoe feel completely different in the hand and look different on a stair. Call or text (201) 460-1313 before you head over.

We do not quote by the foot, because two rails of the same length can be very different jobs. Glass thickness, panel height, whether you go standoff or base shoe, the glass type, the hardware finish and what the panels anchor into all affect the price. Interior and exterior are different builds too. You get a firm itemized quote after a free measure, and we can walk you through monthly payment options.

Figure roughly a week or two from measure to install for a typical run. The panels get cut and edged in our Lodi shop after we template, which is the bulk of that window. Install is usually one visit, though a long exterior run or a stair with several turns can take longer on site. If there is carpentry or decking that has to be finished first, we template after it.

It has to, and that shapes the build. Rail height, panel spacing and how the glass is anchored are not style choices, they are requirements, and we install to them. What we look at on site is the structure the panels tie into, since a deck rim or a stair stringer has to be able to carry the load. If something underneath needs reinforcing first, we will tell you at the measure.

Yes. The panels are tempered safety glass, not something that gets brittle in the cold, and the mounting hardware is specified for outdoor use. Snow and road salt mean you will want to rinse the glass now and then, the same as any exterior surface, and the protective easy-clean coating helps it shed water. Tell us the exposure and we will point you at finishes that suit it.

Usually. We take the old rail off, look at what is underneath, and set glass panels to the actual rise and run of your steps rather than a standard size. On older Lodi stoops the concrete or masonry sometimes needs attention before anything gets anchored, and we will be upfront if that is the case. The measure is free and it is the fastest way to get a real answer.
