Recent glass projects in Hoboken, NJ

Quick answer: Hoboken is about seventeen minutes from our Lodi shop, and we install custom glass here regularly — narrow brownstone bathrooms with space-saving sliding doors, low-iron upgrades in modern condos, mirror and railing work in renovated walk-ups, and commercial storefront across Washington Street. Here are recent case studies from the Mile-Square City.

Town Spotlight · 5 min read · Updated May 2026

Hoboken is overwhelmingly 1880s through 1920s brownstones — narrow, tall, and packed onto fifty-foot lots. The bathrooms in these buildings are tight: 30 to 36 inches wide is typical, with the shower opening often only 48 inches across. That makes slim sliding bypass doors the most-installed style in our Hoboken backlog. Frameless inline swinging doors work in some renovated units where the layout has been widened, but the dominant playbook is sliding glass that takes zero swing-clear space.

At a glance

  • Drive from our Lodi showroom: ~17 minutes via NJ Turnpike or Route 3
  • County: Hudson, NJ
  • Most common project: space-saving frameless sliding bypass doors in narrow brownstone baths
  • Growing category: low-iron and brass-hardware upgrades in renovated walk-ups
  • Typical timeline: 2–3 weeks from quote to install for residential; faster for time-sensitive commercial work

Shower-door highlights

Shower enclosures are our highest-volume residential category in Hoboken, and the variety of housing here means we see a wide spread of styles and footprints. Recent examples:

Frameless sliding bypass in a Washington Street brownstone

A 1900s brownstone bath off Washington Street had a 48″ tub-shower in a 32″-wide bathroom. We installed a frameless sliding bypass in 3/8″ low-iron glass on a slim brushed-chrome top track. Zero swing-clear demand, full visual openness, immediate space gain.

Walk-up condo low-iron primary bath with brass hardware

A renovated walk-up condo near First Street wanted a low-iron primary-bath enclosure with brushed-brass hardware to coordinate with the rest of the new finishes. We fabricated a 1/2″ low-iron frameless inline door with a fixed 18″ return panel, custom 24″ brass pull. The whole package read like a designer install — at a fraction of designer pricing.

Compact corner enclosure in a Court Street walk-up

A small brownstone bath converted a corner tub footprint into a walk-in shower at 36″ × 36″. We installed a custom three-panel neo-angle enclosure with a pivot door, all 3/8″ glass, polished chrome. Neo-angles are the right answer when the room has a true corner-and-no-clearance footprint.

Mirror highlights

Custom mirrors are an underused category — most homeowners don't realize the upgrade until they see one done at the right size, with the right edge treatment. Two recent Hoboken examples:

Washington Street brownstone vanity mirror

A 24″ × 36″ beveled vanity mirror with a 1″ polished bevel, anchored above the existing sconces with hidden Z-clip hardware. Crisp, frameless, designer-feel in a tight original brownstone bath.

Walk-up condo entryway full-length mirror

A 24″ × 72″ full-length mirror anchored beside the front door in a renovated walk-up entry, polished edges, no frame. The owner wanted a mirror she could use to check her outfit on the way out without dedicating wall space to a piece of furniture.

Other glass work

Beyond showers and mirrors, we see steady volume in Hoboken across the rest of our services:

  • Commercial storefront replacement on Washington Street after a tree-limb incident — tempered panel and re-glazed transom in a single day.
  • Restaurant glass partition for a new Hoboken eatery — slim metal channel with painted glass on the lower half.
  • Glass railing on a renovated brownstone stair — frameless 3/8″ panels, top-mounted on a wood handrail.
  • Painted-glass kitchen backsplash in a Hudson Street condo — single 5-foot panel in soft warm white.

Why Hoboken chooses AGM

Hoboken brownstone bathrooms are about working inside tight original footprints — sliding bypass doors are the dominant answer, and a shop that doesn't know that wastes everyone's time. We've done enough Hoboken work to template a 32-inch bathroom without surprises and to schedule around the unloading-zone reality. We field-measure, fabricate, and install with our own in-house crew — no subcontractors, no warranty pass-the-buck — and we've been doing it across Hudson County and North Jersey for over forty years.
