Recent glass projects in Newark, NJ

Quick answer: Newark is about fifteen minutes south of our Lodi shop, and we install custom glass here regularly — Ironbound storefront work, Forest Hill Victorian primary-bath renovations, Weequahic multifamily packages, brownstone mirror and railing work, and commercial fit-out downtown. Here are recent case studies from the Essex County seat.

Town Spotlight · 5 min read · Updated May 2026

Newark is Essex County's commercial and residential anchor — and the work breakdown reflects that. The Ironbound is overwhelmingly storefront, restaurant, and commercial work; Forest Hill is high-end Victorians and stately brownstones with primary-bath renovations; Weequahic and the South Ward have a deep base of multifamily and two-family residential. Downtown commercial fit-out — office partitions, conference rooms, retail glass — is its own steady category. We work across all of these.

At a glance

  • Drive from our Lodi showroom: ~15 minutes via Route 21 / McCarter Highway or NJ Turnpike
  • County: Essex, NJ
  • Most common project: commercial storefront and restaurant glass across the Ironbound
  • Growing category: high-end residential frameless work in Forest Hill
  • Typical timeline: 2–3 weeks from quote to install for residential; faster for time-sensitive commercial work

Shower-door highlights

Shower enclosures are our highest-volume residential category in Newark, and the variety of housing here means we see a wide spread of styles and footprints. Recent examples:

Forest Hill Victorian primary-bath frameless enclosure

A renovated primary bath in a stately Forest Hill Victorian wanted a frameless enclosure to match the period feel but with modern light. We installed a 1/2″ frameless inline door with a fixed return panel in low-iron glass, brushed brass hardware, and a custom 24″ pull. Three-week fabrication; single-day install.

Weequahic multifamily three-unit shower package

A three-unit multifamily near Weequahic Park had matching tub-shower openings in every apartment. We installed matching 3/8″ frameless sliding bypass doors across all three units in a single workday. The landlord-client model lives or dies on predictable timing — we built ours around that.

Ironbound restaurant glass partition

A new Ironbound restaurant wanted a glass partition separating the bar area from the main dining room. We fabricated a slim-channel partition with painted glass on the lower half for privacy at the bar stools and clear glass above for sightline. Two-week fabrication; pre-opening install.

Mirror highlights

Custom mirrors are an underused category — most homeowners don't realize the upgrade until they see one done at the right size, with the right edge treatment. Two recent Newark examples:

Forest Hill Victorian foyer mirror

A 40″ × 76″ statement mirror for a Forest Hill Victorian foyer, fabricated with polished edges and a soft antique-finish silvering, then sent to the owner's framer for a period-appropriate gilt frame.

Downtown commercial back-bar mirror

An 8-foot back-bar mirror for a downtown Newark restaurant, tempered with polished edges, mechanical clip anchoring. Replaced in a single overnight to keep the bar open through the next service.

Other glass work

Beyond showers and mirrors, we see steady volume in Newark across the rest of our services:

  • Ironbound storefront repair after vehicle strikes — tempered panels replaced inside a week, often inside a day for time-sensitive tenants.
  • Office conference-room glass for a downtown tenant — eight 1/2″ tempered panels with point fittings.
  • Painted-glass kitchen backsplash in a renovated Forest Hill colonial — single 8-foot panel in warm white.
  • Glass railing on a renovated brownstone stair — 3/8″ tempered, top-mounted on a wood handrail.

Why Newark chooses AGM

Newark has more project types per square mile than almost any town we serve — restaurant, storefront, Victorian residential, multifamily, downtown commercial — and we do all of them with the same in-house crew. That's the difference between a quote-and-pray model and a measure-fabricate-install start-to-finish model. We field-measure, fabricate, and install with our own in-house crew — no subcontractors, no warranty pass-the-buck — and we've been doing it across Essex County and North Jersey for over forty years.
