We would like to explain the difference between Regular (Annealed as some call it) Glass & Tempered Glass.
When Regular Glass breaks it breaks into large pieces, which can cause serious harm to anyone near it. Tempered glass breaks into a million little pieces in order to protect anyone around it. You may end up with very small cuts but you do not have to worry about being seriously injured. This is why it is sometimes referred to as “Safety Glass”
Another little thing that most people don’t know is Tempered Glass is 4 times stronger than regular glass of the same thickness. Lets use a 1/4″ thick piece of glass as an example. 1/4″ Tempered Glass has the same strength as a 1″ thick piece of regular glass. The reason for this is that tempered glass is constantly under pressure from edge to edge. This property makes tempered glass very hard to break.
